Health & Safety Policy Statement

Brington & Molesworth Parish Council is committed to ensuring that it will actively manage the health, safety and welfare of its parishioners and others that have on occasion to be in the parish where it has a legal obligation to take responsibility so far as is reasonably practicable.

To achieve this, it will:

  • Comply with all relevant Health & Safety Legislation and regulations as applicable to the responsibilities of the Parish Council
  • Identify and evaluate any health & safety risks related to the activities of the Parish Council and carry out risk assessments on all activities where the Parish Council assumes responsibility and there is a significant risk of harm
  • These are to be carried out by a competent person on behalf of the Parish Council
  • Minimise hazards and control risks to ensure a safe environment by carrying out routine inspections and record any findings, reporting any issue that requires action to the appropriate person
  • Monitor and review all risk assessments to ensure that they are:
  1. Up to date and reflect current practice
  2. Amended when changes occur and
  3. Reviewed by a competent person
  • Ensure that any contractors employed and financed by the Parish Council are:
  1. Competent to do the work to be undertaken
  2. Given adequate instruction as to what work is to be undertaken
  3. Accountable for good health & safety practice and behaviour
  4. Required to have suitable and sufficient risk assessments
  5. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Provide information and training to all Parish Councillors and committee members carrying out work for the Parish Council as required and as applicable

This policy statement will be reviewed and revised as necessary.
